Welcome to NewcastleGateshead is a destination awareness workshop for anyone who plays a part in welcoming visitors, including those working in:

  • Hotels
  • Retail
  • Attractions and cultural venues
  • Bars, pubs and clubs
  • Restaurants
  • Universities and Colleges
  • Transport

It’s a fun and interactive three hour workshop which looks at:

  • Who our visitors are and why they come here
  • The story of NewcastleGateshead
  • The truth of where Geordies come from
  • Our attractions, museums, galleries, theatres and sports venues
  • Hotels, restaurants, nightlife and shopping
  • Our stunning coast and countryside
  • Festivals and events, including The Great Exhibition of the North 2018.

After the workshop, you’ll go on a walking tour led by one of our knowledgeable Newcastle City Guides, who will give an informative, fun and quirky view of the ‘twin cities’ of Newcastle and Gateshead. The tour will start and finish at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. Your team member, whether born and bred here or new to the region, will get a whole new understanding and enthusiasm for why people visit. They will be equipped to go that extra mile and ensure we can all be proud of the welcome we are giving visitors to NewcastleGateshead.

Please note: If places are cancelled less than 48 hours before the start of the workshop, a charge of 50% of the course fee will apply.

Public transport and parking: Crowne Plaza is located in the Stephenson Quarter between Newcastle Central Station and the Quayside. The nearest Metro station is Central Station, approximately 5 minute walk. Car parking is available at the Stephenson Quarter Car Park, next door to the Crowne Plaza. It is open 24 hours a day and has a day rate (8am – 6pm) of £6. Postcode is NE1 3PH.
