Tumble Out of Bed to Catch 9 to 5: The Musical at Tyne Theatre & Opera House

Mark your calendars and get ready as Tyne Theatre Productions’ upcoming production of Dolly Parton’s 9 to 5: The Musical will be gracing the historic stage of the Tyne Theatre and Opera House from Wednesday 20 – Saturday 23 March 2024.

Based on the 20th Century Fox Picture and book by Patricia Resnick, this hilarious musical follows Violet, Judy, and Doralee, three fed-up office workers who hatch a plan to take charge of their sexist and egotistical boss, Hart. Their journey is filled with toe-tapping songs, including the iconic “9 to 5”, all brought to life by a talented cast led by Rebecca Graham (Violet), Steph Peacock (Judy), Luisa Gibson (Doralee), and Ian Patterson (Hart). This show promises a night of laughter, music, and dancing that will leave you feeling inspired.

“This production is about so much more than just a fun night out,” says Josie Clements, Production Manager. “Not only is the musical itself a guaranteed good time, but it is also an opportunity to support our local theatre. All proceeds from the production go towards the ongoing restoration of the beautiful Tyne Theatre and Opera House, ensuring this cherished landmark continues to be a vibrant cultural hub for the community.”

To maximise the money raised, all those involved with Tyne Theatre Productions, from the production team and musicians to the performers and crew, offer their time and talent voluntarily.

Director Helen Abraham adds: “We’re incredibly proud to showcase the talents of our amazing volunteer cast and crew, dedicated to bringing this iconic story to life. We can’t wait to share the magic of 9 to 5 with our audiences and encourage everyone to join us for a truly unforgettable experience. We guarantee you’ll be leaving the theatre with a smile on your face.”

The talented cast also features Shirley Spoors (Roz), David Hardy (Dwayne), Tyler Kempson-Neumann (Joe) and an amazing supporting cast and ensemble. The creative team comes full circle with Jenni Watson as Musical Director, John Freer-Dalziel as Assistant Musical Director and Jade-Leigh Hewitt as Choreographer.
