Over 500 jobs in aviation up for grabs at the Newcastle International Airport Careers Fair

Newcastle International Airport is hosting an aviation focused Careers Fair on 14 January at St James’ Park in Newcastle. Aimed at those looking to start an exciting career in the industry, the fair will see the Airport and its business partners recruiting for over 500 job vacancies across the site.

Organised in conjunction with the Newcastle United Foundation, the SAFC Foundation of Light and Newcastle College, candidates are invited to register online to attend the fair, at which they will be able to find out more about the roles available and apply.

Alongside the Airport, other aviation business partners will also be exhibiting, including ground handling operator Swissport, the Airport’s largest airline partner Jet2.com, flight catering specialists Dnata and hospitality provider SSP. Also in attendance will be catering outlet Greggs and airside retailer Accessorize.

The aviation industry offers a range of exciting career prospects, alongside flexible shift patterns and a mix of full and part time positions. Roles are available across the Airport in areas such as airside operations, customer services, warehousing, security and car parks. Those attending the fair can expect to find a mix of entry level, as well as team leader and managerial vacancies on offer.

Nick Jones, Chief Executive of Newcastle International Airport said: “It is a very exciting time for the Airport as we prepare for an increase in passenger numbers and welcome a number of new airlines and new routes to the region for 2022.

“It is our ambition to be the ‘Best Airport’ and we are looking for enthusiastic, hard-working and committed individuals to help us achieve our vision.

“The aviation industry is a fantastic, fast-paced industry perfect for those just starting out in the world of work, but it also offers opportunities for those who have a little more experience and are looking to progress their career.

“I would recommend anyone who is interested in a new challenge in 2022 to come along and see what we have to offer.”

Newcastle International Airport is the largest airport in the North East. The Airport has a strong portfolio of 16 airline partners, offering direct flights to over 80 destinations throughout the year.

Priding itself on its high levels of customer service, the Airport won the title of ‘Best Airport’ in Europe for its size for customer service in 2020. This was the third year in a row the business has won the prestigious accolade and Newcastle Airport was the only airport in the UK to come away with a prize at the awards.

In 2020 Newcastle International announced its ambitious plans to become Net Zero by the year 2035, aligning with its centenary year and ahead of the majority of other Airports across Europe.

The Net Zero carbon strategy shows the Airport’s commitment to being a good neighbour, as well as taking action to become ever more environmentally friendly.

To help deliver these goals, Newcastle International will take steps to procure and generate renewable energy as well as shifting to new technologies.
