Space Group Brings Its Nationally Acclaimed Conference to North East

Newcastle-based Space Group is bringing its industry-leading BIM Show Live conference to the region for the first since its beginnings in 2011.

Previously held in London and Manchester, BIM Show Live founders; Space Group’s CEO Rob Charlton and Technology Director Adam Ward, and Product Manager at Autodesk James Austin wanted to bring the show back to its roots.

Since the very first show, it has grown into a prestigious event in the construction industry calendar, popular with architects, engineers and construction professionals alike.

Building Information Modelling (BIM) is paving the way in construction’s digital environment and the show will be offering a content programme delivered by hand-picked experts, with an anticipated attendance of over 300 national and international delegates descending on the city over the two-day event.

The show will take place on 1 and 2 February 2017 in the city centre’s Stephenson Quarter, with the conference programme delivered in the Space Architects-designed Crowne Plaza hotel, and the exhibition area spilling over next door – in the brand new Boiler Shop.

Having started as a single architecture business, Space Group, as very early adopters of BIM in its work, has grown a portfolio of companies off the back of the technology’s emergence in the industry, currently employing over 100 people around the UK. It is increasingly developing technology to support the digitisation of the construction industry.

Rob said: “In the last decade, the North East has become a centre of excellence for digital construction in the UK. This has been driven by a strong academic base with good universities serving the sector and a competitive architectural market.

“Preparations are well underway for the show and as always, we are planning a superb event with plenty of surprises for delegates. The call for papers is now live, and we have had a great response already but we are still on the lookout for new and exciting content – particularly from first-time speakers, we want to hear from anyone with a great story to tell.”
