Hotel Gotham Newcastle has opened its doors, bringing new energy to one of the city’s most iconic buildings. The former fire station has been transformed into a 57-bedroom luxury hotel – stylish, bold and full of personality, with all the signature charm.

Phase one introduces Siren, the hotel’s restaurant with an elegant edge and Fire, a dramatic bar set within the original engine room. Behind a velvet curtain, Club Brass – the members-only club offers a tucked-away retreat for Newcastle’s cultural crowd, complete with low lighting, great cocktails and two floors of discreet revelry.

The experience extends into music, with a new live residency from The Good Times Collective UK – a genre-spanning line-up of musicians and DJs setting the tone each week, from Latin jazz on Fridays to soul and global grooves over the weekend. Throughout the hotel, the soundtrack shifts with the mood – breakfast to nightcap, all thoughtfully curated.

Chris Thompson, General Manager at Hotel Gotham Newcastle, said: “There’s a real sense of anticipation in the city and Hotel Gotham is arriving at just the right moment. We’ve created something that feels connected to Newcastle, but with its own sense of character. Whether you’re here for dinner, drinks or a stay, the atmosphere carries you through and there’s always something new to discover.”

The hotel opened with its Fire and Ice package already drawing attention – a winter stay with breakfast, prosecco on ice and a chilli-inspired treat waiting in the room. It’s Hotel Gotham’s way of celebrating contrast – cold nights outside, warm welcome within.

Chris added: “This part of Newcastle is changing quickly and we’re proud to be part of that. We’ve taken a building with real history and given it a new lease of life – one that looks ahead, without forgetting where it came from.”

This is the first of two stages for the site. The police station next door will follow in 2026, adding more rooms and event space. Bookings and Club Brass membership applications are now live: https://www.hotelgotham.co.uk/newcastle/club-brass
