Style Took Over The North East As Metrocentre’s SS25 Fashion & Beauty Weekend Dazzled Thousands

This weekend, Metrocentre welcomed thousands of visitors to its biggest Fashion & Beauty event yet, with an inspiring line-up of catwalk shows, expert-led masterclasses, and beauty experiences across two jam-packed days.

Taking place on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th April, the SS25 Fashion & Beauty Weekend returned, drawing thousands to Exhibition and Town Square for everything from trend-led runway moments to beauty demonstrations and styling sessions with some of the biggest names in the industry.

The events, hosted by renowned Model, Radio, TV Presenter and Author Lisa Snowdon, brought her signature energy and expertise to the main stage throughout the weekend. As well as fronting the catwalk shows, Lisa also led her exclusive ‘Find Your Fabulous’ Style Sessions, where she shared confidence-boosting tips, seasonal must-haves and advice on how to feel your best in what you wear.

This weekend’s catwalk shows offered a true celebration of summer style, from race day glamour to relaxed beach looks and everything in between. Lisa Snowdon’s ‘Find Your Fabulous Style’ presentation was a highlight, as she guided the crowd through how to style key seasonal trends, from nautical-inspired pieces in crisp blues and whites, to free-spirited boho looks with tassels and frills, soft pastel tailoring perfect for summer occasions, and bold florals ideal for sun-soaked days. Featuring standout pieces from brands including Mango, River Island, Next, Apricot, and Accessorize, the shows gave visitors plenty of inspiration for holidays, weddings, weekend getaways and sunny days at home.

Lisa Snowdon, who hosted the weekend’s style masterclass, said: “Sharing my ‘Find Your Fabulous’ style masterclass at Metrocentre’s Fashion & Beauty Weekend was such a fantastic experience. The centre is packed with so many brilliant brands and incredible retailers. I hope everyone left feeling inspired, confident and ready to find their fabulous.”

One of the most talked-about moments of the weekend was the return of Newcastle College’s ‘The Future of Fashion’ show.  The student-led showcase celebrated creativity, craft and collaboration, with fashion, makeup, modelling, photography and hair all produced by students across the College’s creative and performance courses. The collection featured one-of-a-kind looks developed over the academic year and received a great response from the crowd, many of who praised the originality and talent on display.

Phoebe Butler, a student from Newcastle College who showcased her work on Saturday, shared her experience about what it means to be a part of Metrocentre’s Fashion & Beauty Weekend saying, “Seeing my outfits come to life and be modelled down the runway gave me a new perspective of my capabilities of bringing my ideas to life and presenting them to an audience with confidence. My inspiration for one outfit pulled from the brief “transition” revolves around the process sea glass partakes in, shown through my plastic sculpted bodice, sand corset and flowing trail inspired by the ocean. This show has given me the confidence to move  forward, going to university in London and to take every opportunity, as the Metrocentre has given me through this runway showcasing my designs.”

Helen Atkinson, Marketing Manager at Metrocentre, commented: “We were delighted with the success of this year’s Fashion & Beauty Weekend. The atmosphere was buzzing, and it was brilliant to see people of all ages enjoying the fashion shows, getting involved in masterclasses, and discovering new trends and treatments. Supporting local talent is really important to us, and the Newcastle College takeover was one of the highlights – they brought so much passion and creativity to the event.”

The weekend also featured exciting pop-ups and giveaways from Metrocentre’s leading beauty brands, including Sephora, H Beauty and Kiko Milano,  giving guests the chance to experience everything from skincare tips and fragrance testing to personalised makeup consultations.

As well as celebrating style, the event also supported a good cause. Shoppers were invited to donate their pre-loved fashion to local charity Daisy Chain, who support autistic and neurodivergent people and their families. The clothing collection point can be found in Exhibition Square until the end of May.

With something for every style lover, beauty enthusiast and trend-seeker, Metrocentre’s SS25 Fashion & Beauty Weekend proved once again why it remains a must-visit event in the North East’s social calendar.
