Metrocentre’s fab four – the Metrognomes – are back with an all-new show for the May half-term holidays.

‘The Metrognomes Present: Back to the Metrocentre’ follows the latest adventures of Herbert, Sherbet, Maggot and Rusty as they bump into their old friend and famous inventor, Percy Veer.

Percy’s trying to build a time machine to travel back to 1986, the year Metrocentre first opened its doors, but things aren’t going according to plan. Can the Metrognomes work their magic to help solve Percy’s time-travel troubles? With the support of the audience, they can.

Watch the free family fun unfold at Exhibition Square, from Monday 25 May to Sunday 31 May:

  • Monday to Friday: 12pm, 2pm, 4pm, 6pm
  • Saturday: 11am, 1pm, 3pm, 5pm
  • Sunday: 12pm, 2pm, 4pm.

Each shows lasts around 30 minutes and there’s no need to book – just turn up, grab a seat and enjoy.

Newcastle United Foundation

Meanwhile, at Metrocentre’s Community Hub in Upper Green Mall, Newcastle United Foundation will also be running free activities for kids while school’s out.

Youngsters can try their hand at table tennis, table football, indoor golf or soft darts; immerse themselves in a PlayStation 5 game; enjoy some colouring-in; or simply hang-out together in the chill-out zones.

Activities run from 11am until 3pm, from Tuesday 26 May through to Friday 29 May.

Other things to see and do at Metrocentre

Elsewhere in Metrocentre, there’s plenty more to keep school kids big and small entertained during the half-term holidays.

For budding creatives, there’s the chance to try a spot of cake decorating at new Sprinkle Studio or capture some quirky content at The Upside Down House. For thrill-seekers, there’s escape room excitement at The Escapologist and the interactive games rooms of Activate. And for those who like nothing more than a little friendly competition, there’s Treetop Golf, along with bowling, dodgems and Clip n’ Climb at Namco Funscape.

Also on hand is Odeon IMAX Cinema with the latest releases, as well as a whole host of places to grab a snack or a drink.
