Metrocentre’s Spring-Summer Fashion & Beauty Weekender returns to kick off 40th birthday celebrations

Metrocentre’s iconic Spring-Summer Fashion & Beauty Weekender – the largest free event of its kind in the North East – is set to return this April 2026, officially launching the centre’s 40th birthday celebrations in style.

Taking place across Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th April, the annual event will once again transform the Gateshead destination into a hub of fashion, beauty and live entertainment, bringing together leading high street names, premium brands and emerging talent for a full weekend of activity.

Over the two days, Town Square will become an immersive runway, hosting live fashion and dance shows, and showcasing the key looks of the Spring-Summer season.

Among the highlights, Daisy Chain will open the catwalk with a special birthday throwback to the 1980s, celebrating four decades of style through curated looks created from donated clothing, before handing over to a line-up of brands and retailers to define the season ahead.

The weekend will also see the return of the popular ‘Future of Fashion’ showcase, with students from Newcastle College presenting their latest work across fashion, make-up artistry, hair styling and photography.

In nearby Exhibition Square, a dedicated beauty playground complete with pink carpet, cherry blossom trees and 360 video booth will bring together a mix of bestselling and boutique brands, offering visitors the chance to explore new products, enjoy personalised consultations, and take part in a programme of live demonstrations, giveaways and interactive experiences.

Metrocentre Marketing Manager Helen Atkinson said: “Now a firm favourite on the spring-summer calendar, our Fashion & Beauty Weekender grows year on year – but never more so than in 2026, as we celebrate 40 years since opening.

“With support from our retailers and partners, we’re creating a weekend that truly reflects everything Metrocentre stands for – style, experience and something for everyone.”

The SS26 Fashion & Beauty Weekender will be preceded by an exclusive VIP launch event on the evening of Friday 24th April, offering a first look at the weekend’s activity, with tickets now on sale and proceeds going to The Daisy Chain Project.

In the countdown to the event, Metrocentre will also be hosting clothing donation points, encouraging visitors to bring pre-loved items in good condition to support Daisy Chain’s ongoing work with neurodivergent individuals and families.
