Sprinkle Studio, the latest independent retailer to join Metrocentre, is set to open its doors this Friday 27 March, offering customers of all ages the opportunity to get into their creative flow with a spot of cake decorating.

The new arrival aims to tap into growing demand for, and participation in, hands-on creative crafts away from digital screens.

Customers will be presented with a ‘blank canvas’ in the form of a bento cake, freshly baked on the premises that day, and invited to create their own edible art, choosing from a wide selection of frostings, fondants, stamps, stencils and over 40 different sprinkle types: from googly eyes, magical unicorns and Disney characters to pretty pearls and coloured confetti.

Sessions last 90 minutes and all toppings and cake decorating tools are included in the ticket price, along with a choice of refreshments, plus a takeaway box for customers to transport their new creation home safely.

No previous cake decorating experience or natural artistic talent is required – Sprinkle Studio offers a friendly, welcoming space where young and old alike can try something new in a relaxed café setting, while catching up with family and friends.

Ideal for groups big and small, including children’s parties, customers are advised to book in advance via the website, sprinklestudio.co.uk, to be guaranteed of a place. Bookings of four or more places will save 5% off the ticket price, while bookings of six places or more will save 10%.

And for one weekend only, those booking tickets for Sprinkle Studio’s official opening on Friday 27 March can enjoy a special introductory offer, saving 50% off the normal price. Those booking tickets for Saturday 28 or Sunday 29 March can save 20% off.

Coming soon, there will also be dedicated ‘Parents and Tots’ sessions mid-week and book club-inspired evening sessions, as well as Sprinkle Studio Cake Decorating Kits so that the fun of cake decorating can be enjoyed at home as part of birthday celebrations, bridal parties and baby showers.

Noah Knapton, Asset Manager at Sovereign Centros from CBRE, said: ‘Sprinkle Studio is the ideal new signing. Not only does it complement the unique ‘indie’ character of The Village, but it also adds to the range of activities and attractions that make Metrocentre as much a leisure complex as it is a premier shopping destination.

‘Our number one goal is to ensure visitors to Metrocentre have a stand-out experience, every time, and our growing line-up of independent retailers is a hugely important part of that.’

The opening of Sprinkle Studio comes just weeks after family-owned Boni Italian Coffee & Bakery launched nearby, serving up expertly made cappuccinos, fresh pastries, and tasty pizzas.

Both new additions hope to emulate the success of other independent retailers within The Village, such as Life’s A Witch, which opened in 2025 offering a range of witchcraft, spiritual and wellbeing essentials, and Demanded Streetwear, which re-located to Metrocentre in 2024, building on a strong following for its sought-after, limited-edition clothing, accessories and fragrance.

Helping ensure that even more local businesses benefit from the high footfall at Metrocentre, plans were announced earlier this year for ‘The Crescent’. On course to open this summer, it will see the area formerly known as The Forum – conveniently located adjacent to The Village, between the Green and Blue Malls – transformed into a dedicated 10,000 sq ft hub to showcase established and emerging independent brands.
