Crowne Plaza Newcastle Joins ABPCO
10th December 2025
The Crowne Plaza Newcastle has announced its membership of the Association of British Professional Conference Organisers (ABPCO), reinforcing its position as a leading venue for association conferences and events in the Northeast.
The move marks an important step in the hotel’s commitment to working more closely with association event professionals and supporting Newcastle’s continued rise as one of the UK’s most dynamic conference destinations.
Paul Borg, General Manager of Crowne Plaza Newcastle said:
“ABPCO is an incredibly respected organisation, representing some of the UK’s most experienced and forward-thinking event organisers. We’re delighted to join them and to offer a venue that has been custom-made to meet the needs of association event professionals.
We’re really keen to show off what we have here. From full venue buy-outs and flexible spaces to cross-venue branding and executive space. We’ve got a team here that can transform a plenary hall into a gala dinner venue in a matter of hours.”
Located in the heart of Newcastle, the Crowne Plaza offers associations the rare advantage of complete buy-out opportunities, allowing full control over the hotel’s bedrooms, main plenary rooms, breakout areas, and social spaces. This setup is ideal for events that value branding cohesion, privacy, security, and strong community-building. With everything under one roof, delegates can meet, learn, dine, and celebrate without ever needing to leave the venue.
The hotel’s design also lends itself naturally to the association market, with a main large, light-filled plenary space, The Stephenson Suite, supported by multiple flexible breakout rooms, perfect for specialist sessions, workshops, or networking lounges.
As part of the city’s event infrastructure, the hotel works closely with fellow members NewcastleGateshead Initiative, as well as other local partners that can support associations across a wide range of sectors. Newcastle’s reputation as a centre of excellence in construction, emergency services, healthcare, and education makes it a natural home for professional and academic associations looking to engage with local expertise and talent.
Matt Stalker, Executive Director, ABPCO said:
“Having Crowne Plaza Newcastle as an ABPCO member is another boost for the region’s appeal to association organisers, The hotel offers an exceptional experience for association event delegates, with its flexibility, fantastic team, and its location right in the heart of one of the UK’s most welcoming and innovative cities. We’re delighted to have them aboard.”
As it joins forces with ABPCO, the Crowne Plaza Newcastle is not only aligning with the UK’s association community but reaffirming its own role as a hub for knowledge exchange, collaboration, and connection in the Northeast.
