New wildlife sculpture and family nature event set for Dalton Park this May
26th May 2026
This May half term, Dalton Park is welcoming families, nature lovers and budding eco-explorers to its much-loved Pollinator Park, with a special programme of events celebrating nature, biodiversity and the arrival of a striking new willow sculpture.
The Pollinator Park will provide a vibrant space for visitors to explore, offering opportunities to learn more about local biodiversity as it comes into bloom for the season.
A special family-friendly event will take place on Monday 25th May, marking the arrival of a new Swift bird sculpture, created by renowned willow artist Ruth Thompson of Sylvan Skills, who previously designed the outlet’s popular butterfly installation.
Commissioned as part of Dalton Park’s ongoing commitment to sustainability, the sculpture forms part of a wider rewilding initiative, including the introduction of Swift nesting boxes to support the species locally and create a thriving habitat for wildlife.
On 25th May, to celebrate the unveiling, visitors can enjoy a series of free, family-friendly activities designed to bring nature to life. Visitors can register for a willow crafting workshop for children led by Ruth Thompson, running 11am to 2pm on the day, alongside interactive storytelling sessions focused on wildlife and a magical balloon artist creating fun, nature-inspired designs outside the play park.
With the Pollinator Park in bloom, Dalton Park provides the perfect setting for a summer day out, combining outdoor exploration with its wide range of shopping, dining and leisure experiences. Visitors can also enjoy over 65 stores offering up to 70% off RRP across fashion, beauty, homeware and lifestyle brands, alongside a variety of dining options.
Richard Kaye, Centre Manager at Dalton Park, said: “We’re incredibly proud to see the continued growth of our Pollinator Park and the positive impact it’s having on local wildlife. This year’s launch is particularly special as we’re pleased to partner with Ruth Thompson again to create this new sculpture which will be a fantastic addition, alongside a launch event that will give families a great opportunity to connect with nature, learn more about rewilding and enjoy a day out at Dalton Park.”
Created in partnership with Climate Action North, the Pollinator Park continues to evolve as a thriving habitat for insects and wildlife.
