Metrocentre lands new-to-the-UK brand ‘Lefties’
17th April 2026
Lefties, the fast-growing fashion brand with a huge following in Europe, is coming to Metrocentre, opening what will be one of the retailer’s first three flagship stores in Britain – and the only one of its kind in the North East.
Part of Spanish fashion powerhouse Inditex, whose brands include Zara, Stradivarius and Bershka amongst others, Lefties is loved for its trend-led, quality pieces at accessible prices, with dedicated collections for Women, Men, Teen Girls, Kids, Baby and Newborn, along with Accessories, Footwear and Homeware ranges.
Set to open at Metrocentre this winter, the all-new store will occupy a central position in Town Square, where Red and Green Malls meet, positioning the brand at the heart of Metrocentre’s thriving fashion hub.
Lefties is the second Inditex brand to sign with the Gateshead destination in as many months, following the announcement in March that Bershka will make its North East debut later this year, as the appeal of – and demand for – Metrocentre’s fashion offer continues to grow.
Testament to this, recently released figures show that Q1 2026 sales across Metrocentre’s fashion category were up 4.8% compared with the same period in 2025, with womenswear up 9.2%.
Ben Cox, Director at Sovereign Centros from CBRE, Asset Managers of Metrocentre, commented:
“We’re proud to confirm that Lefties are the latest exciting new entrant to commit to Metrocentre. As one of the first Lefties stores in the UK, this is another major endorsement of Metrocentre as a key location for international brands investing in UK retail.
Lefties’ trend-savvy offer will be a compelling addition to our retail mix, and this signing, once again, reflects the dominance and appeal of our scheme to both national and international retailers. With our consistent footfall, extensive catchment, and quality retail offer, we continue to stand out as the leading destination in the region.”
The arrival of Lefties will further strengthen Metrocentre’s best-in-class fashion line-up which includes international brands such as Urban Outfitters, Mango, and – opening this summer – Hollister, along with high street favourites Flannels, Primark, and M&S.
