Berlin route returns to Newcastle Airport for second summer season following strong demand.
Eurowings is bringing back its popular Berlin route from Newcastle Airport for a second summer season following strong passenger demand.
The award-winning airline will operate flights to the German capital every Thursday and Sunday from May to October, with fares starting from just £48.94 one-way.
The route now offers more convenient afternoon departure times – perfect for passengers to enjoy three or four-day getaways to the city.
One of Europe’s most vibrant capitals, Berlin comes alive in the summer with its world-famous outdoor music and multi-cultural street festivals and bustling nightlife.
In May, thousands are expected to descend on the city for its four-day Carnival of Cultures event, featuring a spectacular parade with over 5,000 performers, alongside live music, dance and theatre performances and vibrant food markets.
The following month, the Fête de la Musique transforms Berlin into a giant open-air music concert, with performances across hundreds of stages in the city’s streets, parks and squares.
Visitors can also explore Berlin’s rich history, from iconic landmarks such as the Brandenburg Gate and Reichstag to the charming streets of Prenzlauer Berg – a trendy neighbourhood filled with cosy cafes, boutique shops and striking architecture.
In the evenings, the city offers something for everyone, from world-class restaurants and lively rooftop bars to theatre shows and scenic river cruises along the Spree.
Chris Ion, Head of Aviation Development at Newcastle Airport, said: “Berlin is one of our most popular city-break destinations and following strong bookings last year, it’s fantastic that Eurowings will be operating the route again this summer.
“We’ve worked closely with the airline to deliver an enhanced flight schedule with more convenient afternoon departure times – perfect for passengers looking for three or four-day getaways to the city.
“We look forward to seeing passengers jet off to Berlin this summer and welcome even more visitors from the city to our region.”
Reinald Frankewitz, Head of Network Relations at Eurowings, said: “The return of our Berlin service from Newcastle for a second summer season reflects the strong demand we saw from passengers last year.
“Berlin is a key destination within our European network, and we’re pleased to continue offering travellers easy access to one of Europe’s most exciting capitals while further strengthening our partnership with Newcastle Airport.”
