BeaconHouse Events back FareShare North East’s Big Give campaign to help provide over 8,000 meals this Christmas
26th November 2025
BeaconHouse Events has announced its support for FareShare North East’s 2025 Big Give Christmas Challenge, donating on behalf of its clients, a gift that will be doubled during the campaign week (02 – 09 December). This contribution alone will fund 8,200 meals for people across the region who need them most.
FareShare North East’s Big Give campaign encourages individuals and businesses to donate during this week-long match-funding window, with every pound doubled to increase impact at a time when many families are facing severe financial pressure.
The partnership has deep personal resonance as BeaconHouse Events’ Operations and Culture Director, Cat Duhaut, a Trustee of FareShare North East, plays an active role in championing the charity’s mission to reduce food waste and support vulnerable communities.
She said: “Being part of FareShare North East has shown me just how far a single act of support can go. Every donation translates directly into meals for people in our communities, and through the Big Give campaign that impact is doubled. As a business, and as individuals, we all have a role to play in making sure good food doesn’t go to waste and that families across the North East can access what they need. It means a great deal to me personally that BeaconHouse Events is getting behind this campaign, and I hope others will join us.”
This charitable support aligns with BeaconHouse Events sustainability commitments. The decision to support FareShare North East this Christmas builds on the organisation’s growing focus on food waste reduction and sustainability across the event sector. The company has spent 2025 strengthening best practice around repurposing surplus food and minimising unnecessary waste, as well as exploring and embedding more responsible event management approaches into client work. Their alignment with food-sharing and redistribution principles is reflected in their partnership with Olio, which helps ensure leftover food from events reaches people rather than going to waste.
Sarah Thackray, Impact and Strategy Director of BeaconHouse Events, said: “This year we’ve pushed ourselves to think differently about how our events and the sector as a whole, can contribute positively to people and the planet. Reducing food waste has been a major focus, and our work with partners like Olio has shown the real, tangible impact that thoughtful redistribution can have. Supporting FareShare North East’s Big Give campaign allows us to contribute in a way that reflects our values, Cat’s role as a trustee, and our commitment to supporting communities across the region.”
Ruth Jackson, Director of Development at FareShare North East, said: “We greatly appreciate the support of our corporate partners like BeaconHouse Events. Whether through volunteering or direct financial contributions, their support helps us rescue good food from going to waste and deliver it to the communities that need it most. This Christmas we are very grateful for support from BeaconHouse, as part of the Big Give campaign their contribution doubles our impact and puts more meals on the table. Thank you!”
BeaconHouse Events is encouraging other North East organisations and individuals to join the Big Give challenge between 02 – 09 December, when all donations will be matched. Contributions can be made directly via the FareShare North East Big Give page: fareshare-northeast.org.uk/biggive2025/
