Restaurants across Tyneside are paying tribute to Cupid with a Valen-Tyne’s Day offer for loved up couples.
On Tuesday, 14 February, The Runhead, Holburn Lane, Ryton, The Sandpiper, Cullercoats and Scalini’s, at Osborne Road, Jesmond and Great North Road, Gosforth, are each offering a three-course meal for two and a bottle of house wine for just £40.
At The Runhead, diners can choose from starters such as Bloody Mary mussels and crispy duck salad, followed by lobster tortellini, supreme of chicken wrapped in Parma ham and baked Portobello mushroom.
Or, for an £8 surcharge, they can tuck into ribeye steak with a béarnaise sauce before rounding off dinner with dark chocolate and orange tart, lemon cheesecake with honeycomb shards, chocolate dipped strawberries or lemon sorbet.
At Scalini’s, Gosforth, starters include smoked salmon with fennel and minestrone soup with pulses, while main courses feature dishes such as ham hock carbonara, pulled beef calzone and garlic and parmesan gnocchi, with rump steak and king prawns available for a £6 supplement.
Desserts include warm chocolate fondant tart, black cherry frangipane, Limoncello cheesecake, traditional Italian tiramisu and ice cream and sorbet.
At Scalini’s, Jesmond, diners can choose from leek and blue cheese arancini, honey roasted peach and prosciutto salad, tomato and red pepper soup and steamed mussels, followed by seafood risotto, pulled pork calzone, gnocchi, or a chargrilled rump steak for an additional £2.
These will be followed by warm chocolate fondant tart, lemon and mascarpone cheesecake or tiramisu.
And, at Cullercoats, The Sand Piper will be offering duck and port terrine, butternut squash soup or smoked salmon followed by seabass en papillote, spatchcock poussin, wild mushroom and blue cheese Wellington or an 8oz sirloin steak for a £6 supplement.
Dinner will be rounded off with a choice of Baileys cheesecake, strawberry meringue or pear and orange cobbler.
