Metrocentre gears up for the return of indoor dining and leisure

Metrocentre’s indoor dining and leisure retailers will reopen on Monday 17 May, following the latest government announcement.

From Monday, Metrocentre visitors will be able to dine indoors with up to 6 people or two households at restaurants such as Wagamama, Nando’s, Five Guys, Zizzi and Chiquito, plus brand-new local independent restaurant, Zucchini Pasta Bar.

James Wilson, Restaurant Manager at Wagamama Metrocentre, said: “We’ve been doing takeaway-only for just over a month now so being able to open our doors and welcome back our guests for dine-in is really exciting.  We’ve got a number of new dishes on our menu, including the long-awaited vegan chilli ‘squid’ and our saucy new sidekick, the sticky vegan ‘ribs’. We are very much looking forward to sharing these with our guests and giving them the full Wagamama experience.”

In addition, popular family leisure attractions Odeon Cinema and Angry Birds Adventure Golf will also reopen to shoppers, as well as Namco Funscape which has been closed for over six months.

Nikki Nichol, General Manager for Namco UK, said: “We are so happy to be re-opening next week.  Both Namco and Angry Birds Adventure Golf have been closed since the start of November so the team and I can’t wait to pull up the shutters and see people enjoying themselves once again.  Our social distancing regulations remain in place and we would advise people to book online ahead of their visit.”

Ben Cox of Sovereign Centros, Senior Asset Manager for Metrocentre, said: “We are all very excited for the reopening of indoor dining and leisure on Monday. The wide variety of attractions at Metrocentre provide something for everyone, so our visitors really can enjoy a big day out. Everyone is looking forward to meeting friends and family again so we’re delighted that all of our restaurants, cafes and leisure venues can welcome customers once more.”

In line with government guidance safety measures remain in place to ensure Metrocentre remains clean and safe for shoppers including:

  • Face coverings must be worn at all times by Metrocentre staff and visitors.
  • When inside the centre, shoppers are advised to keep left and carefully follow the marked route to ensure social distancing.
  • Hand sanitisation stands are available at entrances and key locations throughout the centre.
  • Controls will be in place at entrance and exit points to manage the number of visitors and where necessary, there will be a queueing system to regulate footfall.
  • Up to 6 people or two households will be able to meet indoors at Metrocentre’s many restaurants and cafes from Monday 17 May.

Individual store opening hours may vary during this time and Metrocentre recommends that you check with the store directly before setting off.
