Tyneside Cinema receives Arts Council award to support fundraising

Newcastle’s Tyneside Cinema is delighted to announce that it is one of 140 projects in England that will collectively receive a total of £17.5 million as part of the Arts Council’s strategic funding programme Catalyst Evolve.

Catalyst Evolve is a new Arts Council England initiative that aims to support organisations to attract more private giving. The programme offers match funding to incentivise charitable giving, whilst investing in the skills, capacity and culture of organisations to enable them to raise philanthropic income.

Tyneside Cinema has trialed a number of fundraising projects that have sought the help of their community of Friends and donors to support projects that have enabled them to deliver their charitable mission to inspire positive change in the lives of the people of the North East. Yet despite this established track record in fundraising, the Cinema is currently limited by the resources and technology they currently have.

Catalyst Evolve funding will enable the Tyneside to invest in new fundraising tools and technology, helping them to increase the scale of their fundraising activities and to more effectively communicate and develop relationships with their supporters.

This award will also fund the creation of a new role to lead on this work.

The new funds raised plus matched Catalyst Evolve funds will significantly increase the Cinema’s resilience and sustainability as an Arts Council National Portfolio Organisation (NPO).
