Two’s company in Sunderland this Valentine’s Day

A leading North East attraction is feeling the love this February, as it hosts two events to celebrate the most romantic day of the year.

The Glass Yard at Sunderland’s National Glass Centre, run by 1879 Events Management, will be playing host to a Valentine’s Evening on Saturday 11 February and a Valentine’s Afternoon Tea on Tuesday 14 February.

And that means those who want to treat the person in their lives can do it by day – and by night.

The dinner event includes a glass of fizz on arrival, live music throughout the night and a decadent three course dinner, prepared by 1879 Events Management’s award-winning chefs.

This includes a choice of starters, main courses and desserts, ranging from smoked salmon, dill and cream cheese roulade on a bed of watercress with rye bread, sirloin steak served with hand cut chips and beer battered onion rings and warm chocolate fondant served with kirsch soaked cherries and coconut ice cream.

A number of vegetarian dishes will also be available, including grilled asparagus and soft poached eggs served with hollandaise sauce, roasted plum tomato and pimento soup with garlic and herb croutons and a fresh bread roll and sweet potato, chick pea and spinach curry served with basmati rice and naan bread.

The price for the Valentine’s Evening in The Glass Yard is £65 per couple.

For anyone wanting to celebrate on the day itself, National Glass Centre’s Valentine’s Afternoon Tea is taking place on Tuesday, February 14 from 2pm to 4.30pm.
