Submissions are now open for Live Theatre’s annual £2000 Bursary to develop a new piece of theatre

Ideas should be outstanding, imaginative, theatrical and say something new and unexpected.

Bursary winners receive dramaturgical and producing support, research and development, rehearsal space and the opportunity to have their work performed at Live Theatre, often as part of Elevator Festival. Bursary winners are selected through an open call out launched in spring each year.

Bursary winners for 2017 are Katie Bonna for Paper. Scissors. Stone, Christina Berriman Dawson for Rat Boy, Gameshow Theatre for Nuclear War and Rebekah Bowsher for Spoon Theory, all of which can be seen at Live Theatre’s Elevator Festival between Saturday 10 and Saturday 17 March.

Previous bursary winners include fanSHEN, which developed Lists For The End Of The World, presented at Elevator Festival 2016 and performed at Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2017; Alistair McDowell for Captain Amazing and Alison Carr for The Soaking of Vera Shrimp both of which were developed into full length plays and presented at Live Theatre.
