North East Marketing Awards 2018

The North East Marketing Awards celebrated the very best of the region’s marketing sector last week at a glittering awards ceremony at the Biscuit Factory, Newcastle. Sponsored by Nigel Wright Recruitment, the event attracted around 300 marketing professionals from agencies and in-house teams across the North East.

Organised by Echo Events & Association Management, the evening celebrated a range of talented teams and individuals, with awards for Rising Star of the Year through to Marketing Director of the Year illustrating excellence at both ends of the career spectrum. The awards shone a spotlight on not only the people but also the campaigns, brands and products they have created and promoted over the past year.

Over 100 nominations were received and the shortlisted finalists met with a carefully selected judging panel for face to face interviews before a winner was selected. The winners were announced on the evening and the atmosphere was electric! The first award of the night went to Tom Shanks from Blueline Group for Rising Star of the Year followed by the much sought after Marketer of the Year award which went to David Pritchard from Sintons.

It was an incredible night for Drummond Central who won Integrated Campaign of the Year (Agency) for their Zinsser campaign, Not for Profit Campaign of the Year for their work with Ouseburn Farm and Brand Creation of the Year (Agency) for the Money Guru brand.

Darlington Building Society had plenty to celebrate after Caroline Darnbrook scooped the award for Marketing Director of the Year and their campaign for ‘Darly the Train’ won Integrated Campaign of the Year (In-House).

University of Sunderland were delighted to win Digital Campaign of the Year for their work on ‘Reimagining the University Website’ and Universal Wolf celebrated their achievements winning Brand Creation of the Year (In-House).

The team at Lookers were crowned In-House Marketing Team of the Year and Communicator walked away with Product Launch of the Year for the SMARTSend™.

The penultimate awards of the night were for small and large Agency of the Year and the awards went to Cal Partners for Agency of the Year (under 20 employees) and Drummond Central for Agency of the Year (over 20 employees).

The evening finished with the award for Outstanding Achievement which was presented to Phil Cronin from Tombola for his significant contribution to the region.

The evening, hosted by BBC Radio Newcastle presenter Anna Foster, was a glittering affair and included after dinner entertainment from “That Mind Reader Guy, Kennedy”. Guests enjoyed a drinks reception and three course meal at the Biscuit Factory, Newcastle upon Tyne.
