Loganair to launch air services to Bergen and Guernsey

Loganair has announced it is introducing flights from Newcastle to the Norwegian coastal city of Bergen and the Channel Islands destination, Guernsey – bringing the carrier’s tally of routes at Newcastle Airport up to five in six months.

The Scottish airline is set to commence year-round, four-times weekly services to Bergen on April 27 – a schedule designed to enable overnight business trips, weekends, long-weekend and extended breaks. It is also launching seasonal Saturday flights to Guernsey between May 23 and September 5.

Both routes are operated by a 37-seat Embraer 135 jet aircraft with a flight time of only 95 minutes to Bergen and 90 minutes to the Channel Island.

Bergen is the Gateway to the Fjords and is also a thriving centre of Norway’s energy sector.  It plays home to diverse maritime and aquaculture industries – based around one of Europe’s biggest ports, from which the world-famous Hurtigruten voyages around Norway’s coastline also set sail.

The coast city is also a popular tourist destination, steeped in history and surrounded by seven iconic mountains – a bucket-list locations for fans of cultural activities, top-class food and stunning landscapes.

A vibrant city with plenty going on, its famous colourful wooden wharf boasts UNESCO World Heritage Status while fans of the outdoors can make a short trip to enjoy picturesque mountain walks amongst Norway’s towering fjords.

Film fans will be interested to hear it is the setting which inspired the makers of Disney’s hit animation, Frozen, recreating many of its most prominent features.

Meanwhile, weekly Saturday flights to Guernsey will be popular with holidaymakers keen to explore the second largest Channel Island. Blessed with a sunny climate, visitors can explore stunning beaches, military history and quaint villages during a weeklong break.

Across all its routes Loganair provides a complimentary baggage allowance, in-flight refreshments and the option to join Clan Loganair – the airline’s competitive reward programme for frequent flyers. Business customers can also opt for several different fare products, offering a range of flexibility as required.

Tickets will be on sale from tomorrow with lead-in fares commencing at £74.99 to Guernsey and £89.99 to Bergen, all including a complimentary checked baggage allowance and in-flight refreshments.  Reservations can be made at www.loganair.co.uk, by calling Loganair’s Customer Contact Centre on 0344 800 2855 or via travel agents and travel management companies using all major Global Distribution Systems.
