Independent bookseller begins new chapter at Ouseburn gallery

A Newcastle gallery and independent bookseller have turned the page in their ongoing collaboration.

Forum Books, an award-winning independent bookshop based in a listed chapel in Corbridge, Northumberland, has unveiled a new bookshop within The Biscuit Factory art, craft and design gallery.

The new bookshop, which is open daily throughout the summer, stocks more than 500 books, encompassing titles on art, design, food, travel and fiction.

Rachel Brown, General Manager of The Biscuit Factory, says: “It’s a delight to have Forum Books in the gallery. We’re proud to support a local business, to have another independent retailer in the Ouseburn and to add to our visitors’ experience, with an eclectic mix of titles, author talks and book events.”

Helen Stanton, owner of Forum Books, adds: “We’re more than a bit thrilled to extend our collaboration with The Biscuit Factory to a summer-long pop up bookshop in the gallery, bringing the art of bookselling to Ouseburn and Newcastle.

“Look out for author events, indie exclusives, signed first editions and our signature hand-picked selection of beautiful books you hopefully won’t have seen anywhere else! Come and say hello and talk all things lit with one of our booksellers!”

Over the summer, The Biscuit Factory is also co-hosting a number of literary events with Forum Books, including author talks with BBC news presenter and journalist, George Alagiah, Telegraph food writer and cookbook author Diana Henry and award-winning writer of Us and One Day, David Nicholls; as well as book signings with Matt Wesolowski, author of Six Stories, and Newcastle-based Daniel James.
