Candy floss, toffee apples, sideshows and stalls – just some of the treats on offer to partygoers at Newcastle United’s St James’ Park this Christmas.
Throughout December, the stadium’s catering partner and event specialist Sodexo Prestige Venues & Events is hosting a series of carnival party nights and buffet dinners for groups of family members, friends and work colleagues.
Each event begins with hot starters and main courses served at the table before guests move to the stadium’s Platinum Club, to take their pick from a variety of candy floss, toffee apple, cupcake and doughnut stalls at a spectacular Christmas Carnival.
Along with the sweet treats, the Platinum Club will be filled with traditional fairground sideshows and attractions, with prizes on offer for lucky winners, with music from a disco led by the stadium’s in-house DJ.
The carnival nights – which are returning for the third year running – form part of a packed programme of festive entertainment at the stadium, which also includes the annual Golden Oldies lunch and disco on Wednesday 13 and 20 December and Santa Sunday lunches on 3, 10 and 17, when youngsters will be able to visit Father Christmas in his grotto.
Also making a welcome return, is the stadium’s festive shopping fayre, which last year attracted hundreds of shoppers keen to snap up last minute Christmas gifts.
The two-day event, on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 November, will not only showcase a wide variety of local arts, crafts, artisan food and gift ideas but will also feature a Santa’s grotto and carol singing by local children.
“The feedback we had last year – from both the Carnival nights and the shopping fayre – was superb and so this year we’ve decided to make them both even bigger and better,” said Frankie Angus, general manager for Sodexo Prestige Venues & Events at St James’ Park.
“Christmas is a time for families and friends and that’s what we’re celebrating this year – with great food, fun and entertainment for people of all ages.”
