Downy Duckling Days are here again at WWT Washington Wetland Centre

Join us this May half-term (Saturday 26 May-Sunday 3 June) to see the latest fluffy arrivals and go behind-the-scenes at our specialist duckery.

Daily talks will give you a unique insight into our own conservation breeding work, while hearing more about the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust’s international efforts to save some of the world’s most endangered waterbirds. Plus, meet tiny ducklings and goslings as they’re held safely in our keepers’ hands! Talks are drop-in sessions lasting 10-15 minutes each between 1-2pm.

Our outdoor nursery will also welcome visitors for a look at what happens when the feathered youngsters are old enough to venture outside. Open between 12noon and 2pm, our team will be on hand to talk to you about our birds while you get close to them as they take their first wobbly steps in the fresh air.

Plus, have a go at our NEW Eggs to Legs interactive trail, featuring fun flamingo fancy dress, nest-building and bird ID ring activity (pick up a trail leaflet at admissions throughout the day).

Make a full day of it…

And we’re not just about ducks! Discover the fascinating world underwater with help from our knowledgeable learning team during daily pond dipping sessions. Join them as they pick up their nets and search for diving beetles, water boatman and many more insects at the Pond Zone. Daily sessions, drop-in between 10.30-11.30am, free with admission.

Or get creative with spring-themed crafts in the Discovery Centre too. Choose from a number of hands-on activities including making your own wooden animal pen pot or painting a colourful caterpillar. Daily from 2-4pm, small charges apply.

Normal admission prices apply throughout Downy Duckling Days week, WWT members go FREE. Save 10% on admissions by booking online here: http://bit.ly/WashingtonTickets
